Weekend Reflection

I love having every weekend off now, I can actually do fun things with Bug. This weekend, we went to an Ice Cream Festival. There was unlimited ice cream, ice cream samples and lots of giveaways. I like love ice cream, so even though I was drenched in sweat, it was pretty tasty and I think Bug would agree.

We first started off with some Blue Bell.
Then we had a sample from a local vendor.
Her favorite, ice cream cone! The girl loves cones and no, she did not eat much before I threw it away. We didn't want to leave with tummy aches!

Bugs' Summary of Month 25

Month 25: July 16th - August 16th, 2013

Growth: She is in 3T clothes and size 7 shoes! Such a tall growing girl.

Words: I'm so proud of Bug, she has started using please and thank you, when we pass by Starbucks, she says "Mommy's coffee!" (she knows me well) I'm not sure where she got this from, but she has started asking for a sister! Lol

Special moment: July 25,2013 she randomly said "I love you mommy" and it was so clearly said! She now says it all the time, melts my heart.

Obsession: She loves band aids! She also likes to help me with laundry, I hope it stays that way! ; )

"Hi mommy, I'm just playing on your phone!"

 Such a little beauty!

She is fascinated with airplanes.

Teen Mom

I remember being 8 months pregnant and somebody called me a teen mom. Yes, I was 19 years old and pregnant, but have you seen the show Teen Mom? As I took extreme offense to this, the majority of those girls don't have their lives together. I always wanted to be a young mom, why? It's just what I envisioned as I don't believe age defines how you are as a parent and there are pros and cons at any age.

Being a young mom, I got many glares, especially to see my wedding finger, I was asked if my pregnancy was planned and I was told on numerous occasions that I was a baby having a baby. I was beginning to realize that I was being stereotyped as  'Teen Mom'. And I didn't like it. At all.

As I got further into my pregnancy, I learned to grow a backbone. Who were these people to judge me? They had no idea who I was. Seeing a young woman, pregnant, automatically they get a bad reputation. And to be honest, it really sucks.
Being stereotyped isn't fun. And starting out as a young mother was a challenge for me, but I wouldn't change anything. Some ask me Well don't you wish that you would have finished college? Don't you wish that you would have waited?
Not one bit, my daughter is my world and she has taught me so much at such a young age.
I know that I was meant to be a mother and I we will have more children despite of what people think of my age.

Why I love being a young mom
  •  I have so much energy at the age of 21
  • I don't feel that my "time is ticking" when it comes to having kids
  • I get more years to love on my children
  • Your body can adjust easier when you're young rather than older
I've accepted the fact that I will get glares, I will get those stupid questions and people will say the rudest comments, but who cares, I love my daughter unconditionally and nobody could ever question that.

Working Mom

Ever get into the argument which job is harder, a working mom or one who stays at home? That is one of my most hated debates along with breastfeeding or formula. I believe all mothers are working mothers. I have done both and they can be challenging, but in different ways.
Now that I am working "normal" hours, it's definitely different waking up for work Monday-Friday and coming home before it's dark outside.
Our routine:
5:15am - Wake up! I either hear the dreaded alarm clock or hear Bug crying for me. Either one isn't very delightful.
5:30am - Get dressed - do hair/makeup.
6:45am - Leave the house.
7:15am - Get to my mother in laws, prepare Bugs' breakfast and say goodbye.
7:30am - Head to work.
8:00am - Arrive at work.
Noon - Clock out for lunch, I forgot what a lunch break was!
5:00pm- Leave work.
5:30pm - Pick up Bug and head home.
6:00pm - Get home.
6:15pm - Prepare dinner.

6:45pm Clean house.
7:15pm - Give Bug a bath.
8:00pm - Bug goes to bed. My free time! NOT.
8:30pm - Catch up on my shows and prepare for the next day by packing lunch and bags.
10:30pm - Go to bed.
I've learned that it's so much easier in the morning if Bug is in a good mood, so if she asks for chocolate milk, she is getting that chocolate milk because I can't deal with a meltdown at 6am!

She will sometimes lay on my bathroom floor and wait until I'm done getting dressed.
Or watch Barney.

Ways to make the morning easier:

1) Get up earlier than the kids. It's so much easier to get yourself ready without the kids awake.
2) Prepare lunches the night before. This was hard for me to do at first, I always told myself no big deal, I'll wait until the morning, but the next morning, I was rushing to pack lunches.
3) Clean up after dinner. This is another thing that was hard for me, after dinner, I wanted to relax not clean, but if I don't do it right after we eat, chances are I won't be cleaning until the next day.
